Newborn Mind in Moscow City

A five-meter head with a nuclear explosion inside is a symbol of the birth of a new social consciousness and concern for the planet Earth

The development of a new social consciousness in people, the awakening in them of the need to preserve the Planet for posterity is the main idea of the Newborn Mind sculpture, which appeared on the territory of the complex Moscow City.

The five-meter art object of the famous sculptor and eco-activist Vasily Klyukin is made in a recognizable and characteristic technique — of two types of steel: stainless and corroded (covered with rust). The inside of the Head can be interpreted not only as a brain, but also as a nuclear mushroom, which seems to «remember» everyone who is reflected in the mirror surface of the art object.

As the head of the Earth2050 art project and the author of the idea, Zurab Ermilov, said, such an interpretation is not accidental: «Newborn consciousness» is an explosion, a storm of emotions and sensations. It is flexible, like a child’s, capable of changing, but in the future it needs to be fed with impressions — reflections of thousands of people.» Everyone who is reflected in this «explosion» should, according to the sculptor’s idea, take with him a particle of a new consciousness and begin to approach the problem of Earth pollution more responsibly and consciously.

Newborn Mind is part of the Earth2050 art project dedicated to environmental issues in the modern world. While the catastrophic state of our planet is being discussed at climate conferences in Glasgow and Rome, it is impossible to stay away from the most burning problems of humanity. The authors of the project are concerned about how we will leave the Earth to the next generations, and they attract people’s attention to ecology through the bold expressive language of modern art.

The purpose of the Earth2050 project is to support international initiatives to combat pollution of the planet. In the coming years, the collection of sculptures created as part of the art project will visit dozens of countries and cities around the world.
